"I just read in the Footprint Chronicles this jacket is being discontinued. That's a real shame. I think it was slightly mis-marketed however. It should have been called a heavy sweater. Every compliment I've ever received about it, and like the other reviewers mention, I've literally received dozens, the person always calls it a sweater. And what the heck, I wear it around the house mostly like a sweater.
I didn't much care for this year's colors. Last year's rust-brown was a great color that totally fit the styling. This year's colors didn't quite have the same retro look to match the styling. I think if it would have had better colors, a slightly lower price point, and marketed as a sweater it would have caught on better.
As for the cut, it does run small, but if you think of it as a sweater it's about right.
About my only reservation is now in its second season of almost daily use the sleeves are starting to pill on the undersides. I'm going to guess this is a function of them being recycled-scraps. I don't find it objectionable, but for full disclosure after a while it will show daily wear.
PS. I also removed the lapel label immediately after I got it home... I think that's another reason it gets so many compliments, its understated, classic look. With the label, it is like announcing to the world, hey look where I shop. On a jacket that is now typical, on a casual sweater it seems out of place."

"overall, i love this jacket. it has a classy look which lends itself nicely to multiple outfits.... i received multiple compliments when wearing it with dress trousers on a casual friday.
the reviews re: "small fit" are accurate. every patagonia product i own is a XL but the reviews steered me to purchasing a XXL in this instance. i'm very glad that i got the XXL because the fit is truly slim.
the jacket is quite warm too. if wearing a long-sleeve shirt under this jacket i generally find myself comfortably warm during some cold wisconsin winters.
i highly recommend buying one size larger. the only criticism is the slim fit....."

Nice, but could be better

"I really like the jacket's style and the fact that it's made from recycled scraps. I love the grey color ("gravel"), the pinstripes, and a bit of a retro look with the old school Patagonia label.
A couple of downers though--the fit and the feel. The fit is not a "regular fit", but is much more of a "slim fit." I'm on the average to slim side and this thing is hugging my body. Usually Patagonia garments fit me perfectly but this one is very snug. Second, the feel of the fabric is, for lack of a better term, itchy. The jacket has a higher neck which means that it extends past my shirt collar when I zip it up and there is a bit of irritation after wearing it a while. Bummed out because I really like the jacket's look."

"I bought this same jacket last year and wore the heck out of it. Today was a chilly day in SF and I wore it for the first time this year and love the way it feels all over again. I wish there was a charcoal color, I would buy another one. The Patagonia patch is a little large and out of place on this item, but I took a stitch ripper to it and took it off. Love it!"

Great Fall Classic

"Overall this is a great jacket. The size fits small - I'm 5'9", 170lbs, athletically built and always a Small in Patagonia jackets - but this I definitely had to go with a Medium as the small was form-fitting which isn't the intended design of this jacket as its more casual than technical. The wool blend is warm and non-bleach-treated (evironmentally-friendly), and I get TONS of compliments on the retro look of it, so that's pretty rad. It's been great for bouldering, hitting the coffee shop or even at the office. As always, well done Patagonia!....Now post an associate product manager job so I can be part of the greatness!"

Cool Retro Jacket

"This is one of my favorite "lifestyle" jackets. Extremely comfortable and made of recycled fabrics. The wool feels a bit rough to the thouch but overall a very cozy and warm jacket. I think the retro logo really complements the overall look of the jacket. My only gripe is that the hem shows some pilling on the inside at the back. Thought long about buying this jacket because it is not cheap, then found it on sale...killer deal!"

Great sweater, tone down the logo

"I can already tell that I will be wearing this sweater a lot this fall and winter. The fit is slim, which works out really for me. It feels very cozy and could be work both outdoors and in. I've been wearing it around on our cool Bay area summer mornings. The wool is the slightest bit scratchy, but I've already gotten over that. It's slightly windproof. The gray color is beautiful.
My only gripe is the logo. While it has a nice retro look, it is far too large and obnoxious. The sweater is beautiful and has a pleasing design pattern, but then this duck tape of a logo is slapped on and ruins the gestalt of the appearance. I feel like I'm wearing someone else's name tag at a cocktail party. Ugh. I considered carefully removing it, but I'm afraid of hurting the wool."

Sleeper

"This garment flies a little under the radar in Patagonia's line. Its texture and simplicity make it less refined than many Patagonia garments but in a good way. The result is a versatile, durable jacket that is warm for its weight plus more fit for a hard use application. The fit is one size large for me (i.e., M instead of typical S). The retro logo is cool too."

Pop and Lock

"Number One - Made in the USA!
Number Two - It's a warm-up!
Number Three - Retro could be used here, but remember pop and lock dancing back in the day. This jacket takes you there. Throw on some 3-Stripes with fat laces and kick it.
I typically wear medium Patagonia jackets. I wear this one in a large."

"I'm not the type that dresses to impress, but I get an average of 2 complements on this jacket every time I wear it. the styling is perfect, the collar can be up or down without looking bad either way, the cut is slim but not restricting, and the fabric is great. I was a little worried about the wool component before I bought it, but no itchiness!
and the environmental qualities of the jacket make for good and provocative conversation with complementers!"

"I just spent a week climbing in kalymnos with my new jacket. It was the only jacket I took along and was great in town or at the crag. Very comfortable. Fit is trim, I bought a size larger than most Patagonia items I own."

"The Quilt Again jacket is fantastic. It's incredibly versatile — in the past week I've worn it under my foulies while sailing on Lake Michigan, out to dinner with my girlfriend, and under my every-day jacket to and from work. Three friends have complimented me while wearing the jacket, saying they like the way it looks and asking about it. Despite its casual appearance, the Quilt Again jacket performs like technical clothing, breathing well and keeping me warm in all kinds of conditions. Highly recommended."

"I bought this back in college years ago. It's been my warm up on multipitch climbs, north atlantic squalls, and now sitting on the computer. the jacket is pretty durable this one is four years old and has been abused on Wingate sandstone to NC granite and it isn't showing any wear. it doesn't even have any holes in it from campfire ash that seems to burn holes in all types of performance wear. The wool isn't itchy either."
