"So I got this one for my dad to wear on those blustery northern Illinois winter/spring days after I got myself a better sweater hoody, which is also awesome. It's almost interchangeable with the R3 jacket as far as warmth, but although this one has a hood it doesn't keep out the wind as well. Nevertheless it has become a wardrobe star."

"This should really be called the Best Sweater Jacket. I bought one in black for my boyfried a year ago, and he loved it so much he bought another in brown. It is ridiculously soft inside and looks dressy enough to wear to work for business casual or out to dinner. He's 5'11, 160lbs, and the M is a great fit. Another friend is an inch or two taller and needs a L for the arms to be long enough. The only bummer with this jacket is after a year of use, the sweater material has started to pill up on the front. But it's so soft and cozy that it still gets 5 stars."

"One of the most versatile jackets I have ever used. And I have used many shells, fleece of various weights/composition, parkas and various iterations of "sweaters" including fleece sweaters. Unlike many shells that advertise their breathability, this garment breaths efficiently. Unlike gortex parkas and shells, the fleecy lining makes it so very comfortable. The limitation is that is breaths so well that one must increase their level of activity as the temp drops to maintain comfort. An excellent value."

"Warm [though far from wind proof], soft and >very< comfortable. Rather longish sleeves and a slim[er] fit through the body than the 'regular fit' description might lead you to believe or as compared to an R3/4 fleece. Don't read that as a negative...if I could get an R4 cut like this, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
A fantastic jacket. My only complaint, and it's a minor one...no 3rd/breast pocket like the Regulator line has. Quality of both the material and craftsmanship is beyond reproach."

"This is one fine piece. If you were looking for one fleece piece, this is it. Going to the gym, skinning up on a brisk morning, feeding the chickens; yes, Patagonia has come up with a true cornerstone fleece jacket. Details: the cuff and hem trim binding is far more superior than any trim binding Patagonia places on the other fleece line. No pilling or snag runs, durable. The zipper is not too small (see down sweater) or too big. The pockets on the interior of the jacket serve as glove holders or even a small note pad safe spot. Ingenious. As for the overall fabric, Wow, Durable and Warm."

"I literally just got this jacket in the last day and I can't emphasize enough how comfortable and cozy it is. It's really, really soft. I only wish it had an internal chest pocket but besides that, it's great. Large is pretty large but fits well. I Love it!"

"More like a sweater than a jacket. Since I got this jacket last week I havent taken it off. From sitting on the couch, to working in my cold basement bike shop, to late night dog walking this jacket always seems to be the right thing for the job. Super warm and not too hot, easily layers under a shell or over a flannel. Looks sharp enough to wear to the office, only good things to say about this one."

"This is another fine Patagonia product. The quality is exceptional. Not a loose stitch anywhere. Perfect construction. It can be worn like a sweater, jacket or layer under a shell. It looks like wool, feels like fleece. Easy to care for and washable. The fit is different than other Patagonia fleece garments I own. The sleeves are slightly longer and tighter fitting. I believe the entire sweater is slightly slimmer in fit.
I'll buy another."

"For the last 15 years I've been a Large in all Patagonia clothing. However, the large better sweater is HUGE. The medium fits PERFECT and I'm 6'3" and 160lbs, but my only complaint is that the stiching under the arms is tight. I wish there was a bit more room or less harsh knitting under the arm.
Other than that, this is an amazingly soft, warm and great everyday sweater / jacket. Love it."

"Works exactly as advertised--great for indoor & outdoor wear and nice-looking enough to wear out on the town. Fit is slim but true to Patagonia's Size & Fit Guide. The weave of the fleece is loose enough that it's not going to block much of a breeze, so you'll want something over it if it's windy. But a great casual sweater for non-technical wear."

"This sweater has a great look and feel to it. The way it is cut is very flattering and slimming. I'm 6' and usually wear a large. This fits true to size; the arm length is just right. The pockets are well-placed. The collar is wide enough around that it can be comfortably zipped all the way up. It is a bit shorter than I would like; when I wear a polo shirt untucked underneath, it goes longer than the better sweater jacket."

"I really like this jacket. I went into the store without the intent of purchasing this jacket. I found some summer items, and happened to walk by this on the way to the register. The fabric caught my eye, and then I tried it on and I totally rationalized this purchase.
I've been wearing it for a couple of weeks and I am very happy with the comfort and the feel. The quality of this Better Sweater is very good."

"The most comfortable jacket I have worn in a while. I own two north face fleeces and the comfort of the sweatshirt like inside and the sweater like outside of this jacket blows them out of the water. I wore it camping on a recent camping trip to the Olympic Peninsula and it was my home away from home."

"just got this for a cold trip up north. love it, layers well, my only gripe is that the zipper gets caught really easy up high and you have to use two hands, one to hold the sweater tight, and the other to zip down every time you want to pull the zipper down. maybe i got a wonky zipper? maybe next year there can be a bigger/wider zipper on there so this isn't a problem anymore. would still say its a great piece though."

"I bought this item because I thought that it would be a very soft, warm, everyday insulating layer. Unfortunately for me the sleeves were way too short. Too bad, I think the Better Sweater and I could have been great friends."
