Versatile Jacket
5 out of 5 5 of 5 stars
"I like this jacket; it sees use as insulation in cold weather and as a jacket/sweater on a cool morning. It’s light weight so I take it when traveling and along with a light shell it can stand pretty cold conditions. The look is good; it can dress up as a nice sweater with jeans or khakis. The fit works for me in a large (either over bare skin or a light shirt)."

Very happy with this jacket

"Extremely light, easy to move, stylish... I love this jacket! I get a lot of compliments. Not as warm
as a regular fleece jacket, so perfect for summer evening or early fall.

Men's R1 Full-Zip Jacket
5 out of 5 5 of 5 stars
"I have two R1's and a R1 Hoody, love them but I always wanted the ability to unzip them all the way, when I was too hot. I thought about cutting one and putting in a full length zipper, I am not good with a sewing machine, so I kept procrastinating. The Full-Zip Jacket has solved my dilemma. It is just geting cool in the morning, so I have been using it regularly"

R1 full zip jacket rocks
5 out of 5 5 of 5 stars
"Another Patagonia classic made even better! The R1 flashpullover is a favorite of mine due to its warmth, weight, and style. But the R1 full zip jacket makes this nifty item even more useful. 10/10"

New best performance sweat jacket
4 out of 5 4 of 5 stars
"Since I've owned this jacket, approx, 2 mos, I've used it daily and for camping. It's my new favorite nice sweat jacket. My normal jacket size is 39/40, I'm 170lb, 5'9" and the M's R1 size L fits well. Wind comes through like other R1s so I still use Windshield for bike commute."

Nice Comfy Jacket
4 out of 5 4 of 5 stars
"I think that this piece was one of Patagoinia's great ideas this season, the R1 was begging to be made into a jacket and overall i think this is a great translation.

The jacket fits comfortably in the niche between a highly technical piece and more everyday wear. Its very comfortable stretchy lightly clingy material works in a wide range of temps with or with out a shell depending on wind conditions.

My only beef, and why i gave it 4 stars, is the collar is too loose compared to other similarly fitting patagonia fleece i have, an R2 and both R4's. With material this light and stretchy there is no reason for such a loose collar and a tighter collar would add to the nice snugly feel the jacket otherwise has. For now i just use my Patagonia Sunmask with it on windy days.

Awesome Jacket
5 out of 5 5 of 5 stars
"This is a great jacket. It is not waterproof, if you are looking for something that repels water, this isn't your product. But, as for a very comfortable jacket that keeps you snug at in cold temps, this IS your product. Perfect for apris skiing, when you want to shed the shell and you're still a bit wet from sweat and snow, this jacket keeps you snug and comfy. Same if you're dry but want to sit outside by a fire at 8000 feet, and you're friends are bundled up with their "other" quality stuff (read: Northface, et.al.) you'll be fine with this coat and a thin microfiber or turtleneck underneath. Its thin, soft and warm--with flexibility to stretch your arms out. Oh--it runs SMALL, so if you're a medium, order a large."

i wanted to love it; sadly, no.

"i've got two R2 jackets that fit so well you'd swear they were tailored, but the R1 didn't fit the same. in particular, the collar is oversized (compared to R2) which makes no sense since the R1 is more of a mid-layer. i wanted to love the R1, but i returned it."

Good product made better!
4 out of 5 4 of 5 stars
"I've had an M's R1 pull over for two years; amazed at how light weight, warm and durable it is. When I saw the new full zipped version I had to have it. Just like its predecessor, but with the added adjustment of a full zipper! This light coat goes with me everwhere."

R1 Jacket
5 out of 5 5 of 5 stars
"I own a couple of R1 pullovers and thought I would try the R1 Full Zip jacket. I really like this piece, great for layering, easy to put on and take off and stuff's nicely in my backpack for a day of backcountry skiing.

It's also casual enough to wear when I ride down to the local brew pub.

Perfect LW layer
5 out of 5 5 of 5 stars
"I bought this instead of the half zip for easy in/out and more venting options if needed. In addition to the full front zip, the pockets can help vent too. Its a great piece for chilly bike rides and early morning starts on the trail. It has been an absolute staple on my morning bike commutes this spring. The fit is perfect on me (6', 180 lbs, size medium) it is slim and snug without being restricting and goes great over cap1 and under a soft shell or windbreaker (like the traverse or houdini)."

Everything it claims to be
5 out of 5 5 of 5 stars
"Although I've been reducing my purchases lately, I bought the new R1 Full-Zip for its advertised versatility and balance of wicking and insulation. In two initial field tests back-country XC skiing, I was amazed. This jacket delivers! Over a Cap base and a 'Regulator' shell over, I was both warm and dry during heavy exertion in mild cold. Shell removed, it still held up, perfroming even better. And after the post-ski sauna, just as a base layer, _nothing_ has ever felt so good. I'm looking forward to its use in a range of activities from rock-climbing to paddle and sailing, and simple hiking/camping. Thanks again Patagonia -- you're the top!"

Another perfect jacket from Patagonia
5 out of 5 5 of 5 stars
"Perfect weight and breathablility for under a shell. Drys instantly. Better than I expected and my expectations were very high. If you have this and a down sweater to go with your shell, that's all you need for 300 days out of the year. Great job Patagonia!"

Another Regulator Staple
4 out of 5 4 of 5 stars
"The R1 fabric is unbeatable. After years of using it, I can not think of a single bad thing to say about it. Anyone in the mountains needs an R1 piece. The main question is whether the pullover or this full zip is better for your purposes.
The Full-Zip is good for an extra layer. I have used it over all weights of Capilene and even over the R1 Pullover when snowshoeing above 10,000 feet in the winter. Of course the full zip vents nicely, which is useful if you have a pack on. The Pullover has lighter weight material under the arms to vent your pits better (also at the cuffs and hem) and it also has a chest pocket which the Full-Zip lacks (cell and sunglasses don't do well in hand pockets, eh?). The sleeves are a bit longer than necessary (I don't put poly in the dryer) and also seemed a bit tighter than other same-sized Patagonia pieces.
This jacket looks fine as a stand-alone, on the slopes or around town. The drop tail is rather long so it really covers your butt.
All around you can't go wrong with any of the R1 gear and you will for sure get your money's worth of use from it.

"Outstanding insulation! I have used the R1 jacket for both offshore sailing and backcountry skiing and I have always been confortable. Can be used alone or with a shell"
