Ripstop construction gives the 5.5-oz organic cotton fabric used in these pants the tear strength of 8-oz goods.

Good fit, pockets/fly could be improved

"These have an excellent fit and the material/construction is top notch. Really nice weight (light) material with ripstop grid pattern. Great for travel and very casual applications. I am not a fan in general of button flies; would prefer a zipper. Also the button-closure flap pockets (especially the rear) could be improved; as-is it is difficult to access the wallet and the flaps become wrinkled and creased in the wash and when you sit on them. I would prefer rear welt pockets, but perhaps that would compromise the style...?"

"Nice pants. Thought I'd love them forever until I lost my wallet due to the cargo pocket unthreading at the bottom. Thankfully a good woman found my wallet and kindly returned it to me.
Again, nice pants, but not very durable. I've had them for just over a month and already it's coming apart..."

"I LIKE THE FUNCTIONAL DESIGN OF THESE PANTS. I HAVE NOT USED THEM FOR HEAVY WORK YET BUT I PLAN FOR THESE TO BE THE PRIMARY PANTS I USE WHEN GETTING DOWN AND DIRTY IN THE YARD, GARAGE, AND OUTDOORS. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THEY ARE NOTICEABLY WARMER (POSSIBLY DUE TO THE DOUBLE LAYER OF COTTON IN VARIOUS PLACES) THAN ANY OF MY OTHER PANTS. THESE SHOULD BE COMFORTABLE IN COOLER WEATHER. THEY ARE PROBABLY TOO HOT TO WEAR IN WARMER WEATHER FOR CASUAL USE."

"The compound cargo pants are pretty versatile. At 32", it was a bit shorter than I wanted, but this year they have come out with a longer version as well. The material is great as it is light, but I walked around in Melbourne, Australia without any problems in their winter season. The only real issue is with the button down system they have instead of the zippers. It's a it laborious, and I wish they would make it a bit easier to button. All in all, it's a good product."

good pants

"i have two pair of the older, heavier cotton fabric (very comfy, no good on the trail- too heavy). these lightweight pants will dry more easily and are lighter- far better in summer heat. need to work on the belt loops- one in center rear isn't enough! better to have two (2" apart would be perfect) on center rear to more evenly distribute weight for when pants are soaked or pockets are full of gear. for the money, and from patagonia i expect better designs than this. i added my own, thanks."

"Purchased these just before a 3 week trip to China. They were really comfortable and light. I loved the deep pockets for tickets, passports, etc.
Only thing I would have liked was a zippered fly instead of a button fly, which was not bad at all."

"Usually wear a 32/32, the 32 is a little snug in the hips/upper thigh. Still a great pant."

"I first ordered the shorts version of these pants, and quickly realized I had to have the pants. These may very likely be the most comfortable cargo pants ever made. I spent the week fishing in them in Canada, quite simply impressed. I had read the other reviews and in my opinion I love button fly pants, wish they were easier to find. I also love the fact that these pants don’t have the reinforced seat, yes maybe they will wear out a bit quicker, but this makes them extremely comfortable, perfect for long drives or flights to fishing destinations. Plus the light weight construction allowed them to be comfortable under my rain gear, suppose the same will be true when I try them in my waders."

"These pants are perhaps the most comfortable and best fitting cargo pants I have ever purchased. They are equally suited for a casual day around the office or an afternoon mountain adventure."

"They're okay. Just like army surplus BDUs except these are a little better (better length, less shrinkage and no annoying leg ties) but cost considerably more. For this kind of money, I'd like to see a reinforced seat (like surplus BDUs)."

"These things are sick. I put them on and wear them until they're too filthy for anyone else to bear. I liked the heavy ones too, but these are a gigantic leap forward in terms of overall usability. I could live in these things, oh wait I kinda do."
