"This is another great offereing by Patagonia, a company i've come to appreciate more than any other in the last decade-or-so. I was in search of a mulit-purpose jacket: one i could wear under a shell; one that could be worn alone for insulation, yet continue to shed water and wind; with the added benefit of some degree of warmth. My only complaint with the jacket is the fit. I was expecting it to have a bit more "room" for layering underneath, considering its design as an exterior layer in cold weather. I am a consistent Medium with all other Pat gear, but this jacket in said size is a bit tight. With a less-than-bulky sweater or the like, once zippered the undergarment "bunches" a bit....a side effect i try to ignore. With a capilene 4 zipneck it works fine, but i'd like to be able to wear the jacket outside of technical pursuits. I might argue that this jacket is not entirely a "do all" as i dont personally think its got enough room for the sweater/etc i would wear out on the town, but its still a very nice jacket that i intend to keep. I've found it to be quite warm with a Cap 4, it sheds water well, it DEFINITELY stops wind, and i love the stretch. To Patagonia: Next years model, please just give it a bit more room. Also alter the description as it currently says "regular fit", while the fit of this jacket is definitely snug."

Good All Purpose Jacket

"This is a very good jacket that I have been able to use in the Mountains of Washington State, skiing in Park City, and all the way to a week trek down the Application Trail. Always keeps me warm and comfortable no matter what environment I am in.
The fit was good and the lines and styling of the jacket are top notch. The only thing that I would add to the jacket would be pit-zips. There were a couple of times that I would have liked to be able to vent a little more.
All in all, good all around jacket."

"pretty good jacket overall- but has a strange fit -Like it has too much stretch -very strange- too tight for me. I am a medium sized dude and it was really tight on the chest. also pockets need to be bigger"

". . . but alas, describing this jacket as "extremely warm" is spot-on. I simply get too hot to wear this thing in all but the coldest, windiest conditions here in the Sierra. The trim, clean lines are good, I'm fired up that we're making a technical piece with a good Footprint Chronicles story, and the durability is clearly there, but I'm having a hard time finding conditions that warrant this much warmth. My guess is it would be my go-to softshell if I lived in Colorado or Montana. Capilene 1 is the ideal under-layer for this piece."

Great overall jacket

"Bought it for winter bike commuting--it breathes very well, is very comfortable and relatively soft, and cut so it can layer over a fleece or wool, but can also layer under a parka. Great zipper--really. Only quibble is the PowerStretch outer shredded a little in a pavement crash, although still fared better than my skin. I have had soft shells in the past with a tougher outer layer, but they were not as comfortable or breathable."

"The look and feel of the piece is excelent. The fit and construction are what one would expect from Patagonia; well thought out and built to last. Warmth wise is where this piece has left me cool."

"This jacket is great. It really keeps the wind out and is great in cold weather. In freezing temperatures you definitely will need a good base layer. Fits great, very comfortable."

"This is a good jacket, but I ended up returning it for the Alpine Guide jacket (basically because I wanted a hood for skiing). It lacks internal pockets (I think), which for me is a setback. It's not a bad jacket; it's just that there are much more functional and attractive jackets made by Patagonia."

"I like this jacket and have worn it several times a week to work. It is relatively warm, but once the mercury drops much below freezing, it's only good for the jaunt from the car to the door. My main dislike is that the sleeves are not lined with a lower friction material. The jacket is very hard to put on or take off if you have a long sleeve shirt on. I wonder how often that happens? I have gotten into the habit of grabbing my shirt cuffs before inserting my arms, but I'm not happy about it. If you have a long sleeve fleece on as a base, get ready for a wrestling match. Definitely a missing detail that I would have thought Patagonia would not miss."

"I have had the jacket for about 4 weeks and it never sees a hanger, just the back of the chair by the front door. Superb fit and great performance - I have used it for a cold and wet November in the Northeast, but already I am sure it will see action every month of the year!!!"

"The fit and feel of this jacket is fantastic. I have not been able to test it in the extreme weather conditions I usually face due to a warmer than normal fall out west but I am confident it will do what I expect. Layer with capilene and this jacket will keep you warm and dry through some west, coo weather. Great product."

"This will be my #1 ski jacket this year for all weather conditions, and it will follow me to the bar. Unless it's snowing really hard, then I'll use an outer shell."

"Fleece backed softshell for just about anything--this is a tightly woven fabric, so it is pretty much windproof in everything but the most fierce winds. This is a great go anywhere do anything coat, I pack it on just about every trip I go on, skiing, climbing, or just city trips--it keeps me warm, breathes really well, sheds wind and water and doesn't look too tech-weenish."
